reflection

this project was based from a response from a list of prompts I had last week. I have taken the prompt and been able to play around with the ideas and themes that I enjoyed from the work. I knew I wanted to use the ideas of typography that I had in my original post so I started to play with the possibilities of that. If I was to change areas of the project I would of played with more analog ways of creating type as it was something I didn't delve into much and feel looking to letter printing could of been effective. my final outcome consisted of a sculptural piece as well as three posters. I am proud of how they turned out but still feel that they could of been improved. I think if they where either presented in a magazine format or as a more professional poster with frame they would have been more effective for the outcome. I also feel that I should of again tried more analog ways of creating the essence of wind instead of always being digital. something I may also change with my hole outcome is that there was not a clear message with the work as it is just there is communicate wind rather than a meaning but a meaning could of been effective. the 3D element of the outcome was the main attraction and was they think I was most proud of. I used six strands of letters saying 'swarsshsawash' which represented the noise of wind. they were attached to a recycled hula hoop which allowed them to form sort of a wind chime. the piece then used a fan to replicate the wind affecting it. the first thing I would definitely change would be the fan as I would add more and in more directions as it felt still and not a chaotic as I wanted it to be. even though i feel the piece had emotion and worked well I would also change the actual design and increase the scale as I feel it would be more effective and impact the audience more. I was proud I created my own typography but it would be a lot more effective if used laser cutting to make the letters as it would just make it more effective. overall the work in this two week project was in my opinion was at a good quality and showed ideas that where strong and could easily be progressed into a strong outcome.
